Delhi Metro is not women friendly
Indian capital Delhi's metro rail is fast becoming the life line of commuters. However, authorities are yet to look into the inconveniences faced by female passengers.
Delhi, India: Travelling by the Metro (train) today is a challenge in itself, especially for females. Given the fact that Delhi's Metro is fast becoming the life line of the commuters, the authorities are yet to look into the inconviniences of the female passengers. Many of the public today prefer taking the Metro over other public transport due to its being resonable, faster and comfortable. Traffic remains high during the whole day.
Akansha, a PR agent, travels by the Metro everyday for work. But each day she has to face a lot of hardship in the Metro. While getting into the train she gets touched and pushed by many men. Her plight does not end here. Even inside the train, she struggles to find a place for herself. When she finally gets one, she will have to squeeze herself to the fullest. If she happens to stand in the train, then she has to be cautious that she has a bag in her hand to prevent unwanted touches from the co-passengers. "The crowd sometimes resembles a bunch of hooligans", she says.
In such a situation the authorities need to have separate compartments for ladies. Just like that in the Mumbai locals. By doing so, the authorities can ensure a safe and comfortable journey to the ladies who otherwise needs to go through a lot of push and pull during boarding, de-boarding and inside the train.
Pregnant women sometimes takes the Metro. But it becomes difficult for them to comply with the hustle and bustle of the journey. Of course they cannot put a tag saying, "I am pregnant, please give me side" board in her neck. Or any other female in that case write that "Please do not try to touch me here and there in the metro".
There are various girls who work late. But they still are afraid to take the metro after 10pm. If a ladies' compartment is created then they would feel safe. Also the security guards employed near the tracks to ensure proper boarding and de-boarding, needs to keep a check on the quantity of passengers allowed inside. The compartment should not be jammed with passengers that nobody gets to move even their hand. There should be a limit to it to ensure a comfortable journey.
The major metro stations where trains are changed needs to be checked more in this regard. Otherwise too many people crowd the trains. A limit should be fixed. The fact that the Metro is running into huge profits should also pay a heed to its customers' comfort and safety. After all, it is due to the public and thus the comfort of the public should be kept into consideration.
A small initiative for the women will help in taking forward one more step towards making Delhi a better place.

I am sure whoever person is posting against this act of govt. their mothers and sisters are not travlleing in metros. I am too against reseravation. But this act of govt is not related to reservation. On broader perspective, its making a comfortable zone for women in city like Delhi where molestation and rape cases are high. Last time when i was travelling, i didnt board ladies coach and end up being in other coaches. It was so crowded and people were pushing each other like hell. When someone doesnt stand up for aged and crippled, under such circumstances somebody has to enforce some rules. Its is applicable for both men and women.

Shame on you all the women of Delhi. Just to grab seats and sit you make dirty excuses and blames. Everybody knows reservation is just an excuse.
The solution could be improving the security installations for both the genders. But you all opted for reservations, even after the well known fact how reservation is ruining India. Or they could provide an appropriate reservation for Man too ( or at least say the senior old Males)to maintain equality. It's really a shame when you see 60 yrs old males just begging for a seat everywhere... and young teen girl, kicking on his butt to leave the seat, in the name of female reservation
Giving more favourable condition to a particular community, by snatching rights of others is purely a discrimination. Delhi metro is an icon of how sex discriminati

अध्यापक (छात्र से)- अकबर कौन था?
छात्र (अध्यापक से)- पता नही सर।
अध्यापक- पढ़ाई की तरफ ध्यान दो, पता चलेगा।

As is rightly said, For every dispute or issues there is always only one solution i.e. reservation or 'KOTA'. People cannot think beyond that. I am not against women progressing, but at the same time i think it is an undue advantage given to them just because they are not able to handle themselves. Women have issues, i totally agree to it but reservation was never and will never be a solution. Things are getting worse because of this stupid act. As it has already implemented, i suppose it will be forever. What after that ? I am ashamed to see the kind of solution provided by goverment. Britishers were right to hang the board outside their house saying 'Indians and Dogs not allowed'. It is not equality when reservation is imposed. Please understand ...
