We Women Today
This story foretells the transformation of the image and lifestyle, including the thought process of the quintessential Indian women, due to various reasons.
The world is all about women today. Women spin the wheel of life in every sphere. When it comes to the debate about the Institution of Marriage, the quintessential women of the 21st Century vary a great deal in thinking and planning about getting married. Their novel and outstanding school of thought on the whole matter and recent scenario of weddings is completely an appreciable perspective.
Ask a college going girl about, ‘Does she have marriage on the charts after graduating?’, the answer will NOT be NO, it will be rather, more constructive and practical, such as, ‘I want to be financially Independent before getting married. May it take five years or more than that, it doesn’t matter. I need to be financially Independent and I don’t want to be a burden or be dependent on a man for all my needs.’
On an extremely commendable note, women too have felt that following the old traditions of bringing dowry along with the bride or being solely dependent on a man for all financial needs, is totally ruthless. A man was not born with a rule-book of life to bear the financial burden of a woman after he gets married, and thereafter of the whole family!
Today’s women believe in sharing equal expenses of the household with their husbands. From the expenditure in the education of the children and owing a house, women are sharing every penny with their men. Hence at many places, the question and fight for who’ll spend the money on household has been resolved. Women are equally involved and actively participating in all household, financial and other matters of the family. And this ideology has actually worked!
All thanks to women of the 21st Century, who are educated, enlightened and yet elegant in every walk of life. For that matter of fact if we take Single women nurturing children without marrying anyone, just by adopting children, former Miss Universe and Bollywood actor Sushmita Sen has definitely set a rocking example after adopting two daughters. She’s never been against marriage. But she’s redefined the way the society perceives bringing up children all alone being a single parent. She’s living confidently and nurturing her daughters beautifully! She’s is the real Ms. Universe indeed!
The world is full of such exemplary people, what we the women of today need to do is, take inspiration and give a whole new meaning to life and transform the radical norms that have been and are being practiced by the society to get their daughters married soon after they leave school or college. Women should be given a chance to evolve, both individually and socially, taking pride in whatever they do.
